Captain Eto suspended by Cameroon

YAOUNDE — Cameroon's soccer federation has suspended national team captain Samuel Eto'o for 15 matches as punishment for his part in a players' strike last month.

After playing in a tournament in Morocco, Eto'o and his teammates refused to travel for an exhibition at Algeria on Nov. 15, saying the federation had not fulfilled promises to pay appearance bonuses. The match was then canceled.

Along with Eto'o, vice captain Enoh Eyong was banned for two matches, while Benoit Assou-Ekotto was fined $1,986 in a judgment released by the federation on Friday.
