BOSTON — Daisuke Matsuzaka pitched one-hit ball for seven innings and Jed Lowrie had four hits to help the Boston Red Sox extend their winning streak to three games with a 9-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday.
Matsuzaka (1-2) gave up a single to Jose Bautista with two outs in the first inning. He then walked Travis Snider with two outs in the second before seeing off his final 16 batters. He threw 58 strikes out of 89 pitches.
Matsuzaka, who has struggled this season and entered the game with a 12.86 ERA, matched the fewest number of base-runners he's allowed in his 101 major league starts.
"If I did pitch badly, I thought there wouldn't be (a) next chance," Matsuzaka said.
Lowrie, Kevin Youkilis and Jacoby Ellsbury all homered for the Red Sox, who had opened the season with a miserable 2-10 record. Lowrie has 15 hits in his last 24 at-bats.
Ricky Romero (1-2) picked up the loss after allowing five runs in 4? innings.

In St. Petersburg, David Price allowed four hits in eight innings as Tampa Bay beat slumping Chicago.
Felipe Lopez homered and drove in three runs to help the Rays win for the sixth time in seven games.

In Baltimore, Francisco Liriano took a two-hitter into the seventh as Minnesota extended the Orioles' losing streak to eight games.
Rangers 7, Angels 1
In Arlington, Texas, C.J. Wilson struck out nine in seven strong innings to lead Texas over Los Angeles.
Adrian Beltre homered for the second straight night and Mitch Moreland hit his first homer of the season and drove in three runs for the Rangers.
Indians 7, Royals 3 (10)
In Kansas City, pinch hitter Shelley Duncan hit an RBI double to spark a four-run 10th as surprising Cleveland widened its AL Central Division lead with a victory over the Royals.
Tigers 8, Mariners 3
In Seattle, Brandon Inge scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch from Mariners reliever Josh Lueke in the seventh inning, Jhonny Peralta later added a bases-clearing triple, and Max Scherzer remained unbeaten on the season as Detroit rallied late for a win over Seattle.
Ichiro Suzuki went 1-for-5 for the Mariners in the loss.

Giants 8, Rockies 1
In Denver, Tim Lincecum, the two-time Cy Young Award winner who led San Francisco to the World Series title six months ago, took a no-hitter into the seventh inning at Coors Field and the Giants routed Colorado.
Lincecum (2-1) allowed one run and three hits over 7? spectacular innings. He walked three, struck out 10 and allowed just four balls out of the infield, none in the first six innings.
The Rockies entered the night with a 12-3 mark and a four-game lead over San Francisco in the NL West, but right-hander Esmil Rogers (2-1) allowed eight runs and six hits over three innings in just the second loss by a Rockies starter this season
Brewers 6, Phillies 3 (12)
In Philadelphia, Ryan Braun drove in the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly in the 12th and Milwaukee beat the Phillies.
Cubs 1, Padres 0 (10)
In Chicago, pinch hitter Tyler Colvin doubled home Geovany Soto with two outs in the 10th to lift the Cubs over San Diego.
Chicago's Kosuke Fukudome was 1-for-3 with a walk.
Pirates 9, Reds 3
In Cincinnati, Andrew McCutchen doubled home two runs as part of Pittsburgh's biggest offensive showing this season, and the Pirates took advantage of another slow-starting Reds pitcher, beating Cincinnati.
Pittsburgh scored three runs in the first off left-hander Travis Wood (1-2), the second game in a row that a Reds starter couldn't get going.
Dodgers 4, Braves 2
In Los Angeles, Ted Lilly pitched seven scoreless innings and James Loney had two RBIs, leading the Dodgers to a victory over Atlanta.
