Rodriguez fields third in minors

LAKELAND, Florida — New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez went hitless in four at-bats and played in the field for the first time during his three-game rehab assignment with the Single-A Tampa Yankees on Saturday.

He flew out to shallow right in his first at-bat, grounded out and struck out twice. He handled his only chance at third when he fielded a soft grounder.

Rodriguez is 0-for-7 with four strikeouts during his stint with the Tampa Yankees. Yankees general manager Brian Cashman indicated that there was a good chance that Rodriguez would join the Yankees on Monday when they open a three-game series in St. Petersburg, Florida, with the Tampa Bay Rays.

Buffaloes send Park down to minors

KOBE — Orix Buffaloes right-hander Park Chan Ho has been sent to the minors after a string of lackluster performances, the Pacific League club said Monday.

Park, 37, was taken off the active roster following a disastrous outing against the Chunichi Dragons on Sunday in which he yielded six runs in 3? innings, suffering a PL-worst fifth loss.

Park, who had stints in the majors with several teams, including most recently the Pittsburgh Pirates and the New York Mets in 2010, has won only one of his seven starts and has a 4.29 ERA.
