Kobayashi grabs first HBC Cup win

SAPPORO — Junshiro Kobayashi won the four-man final for his first HBC Cup ski jumping victory on Monday.

The 20-year-old soared 133.5 meters on the K-120 Okurayama hill to score 140.8 points.

Fumihisa Yumoto earned 138.0 points for second place with a jump of 132.5 meters. Veteran Noriaki Kasai was third on 125.8 points.

Shohei Tochimoto, Saturday's Snow Brand Megmilk Cup winner, settled for fourth on 105.3 points.

The top 16 jumpers in the preliminary round went on to compete in the head-to-head knockout stages.

The women's title went to Yoshiko Kasai, who made a leap of 125 meters in the final against Atsuko Tanaka.
