Kotoshogiku improved to 6-0 by bulldozing Aminishiki (3-3) out of the ring at Ryogoku Kokugikan for his 19th victory in 32 meetings over the komusubi.

On the trail of Kotoshogiku, who faces No. 2 maegashira Myogiryu (3-3) on Saturday, is a pack of nine wrestlers at 5-1 including Mongolian yokozuna Hakuho.

Hakuho outclassed Gagamaru (2-3) to make it 3-for-3 against the second-ranked maegashira, sending the round mound from Georgia tumbling onto the surface to win by uwatenage.

Hakuho on Saturday faces Toyohibiki (3-3), the No. 3 maegashira falling at the hands of ozeki Baruto (5-1) and saw his three-bout win streak come to an end.

At the other end of the standings, Aran was ushered over the ropes by Bulgarian ozeki Kotooshu (3-3) for his sixth defeat in as many days.

Komusubi Homasho joined Aran as tournament doormats at 0-6, going down with a whimper to ozeki Kakuryu.
